Frequently asked questions
What is the LEIE?
The List of Excluded Individuals/Entities is the HHS Office of Inspector General's list of people and businesses excluded from federally funded health care programs, including Medicare and Medicaid. OIG publishes it as a downloadable file and an online search at oig.hhs.gov.
Is a name match proof that someone is excluded?
No. Different people share names. Confirm a match with the NPI and other identifiers, and use OIG's own online search, which can verify a match with a Social Security or employer identification number.
How current is this list?
This search uses the OIG file dated Sep 10, 2026. OIG updates the list monthly.
